On every level, my work is a portrayal of energy, whether that energy comes from society, social media, an experience, an inner emotion, or an observation.
I listen… jazz and blues music
I watch… movement, relationships, colors, light
I read… articles, social media captions, artists’ statements
I soak it all in. And when I stand in front of my canvas, open my sketchbook, or stand over a monoprint plate, my subconscious seemingly takes over. Afterwards, it is easy to see the connections, whether those connections be commentaries on feminism, body image, or art itself.
I hope my work is a lens through which people can experience a world that is without unrealistic expectations and one that embodies freedom of expression.
